How Are We Related ?

To determine the relationship between two people, e.g. yourself, and Maude Frickert, find the closest common ancestor ("common progenitor" in genealogy lingo) between yourself and Maude. Then, follow the red lines to identify your relationship with the common progenitor along the left axis, and Maude's relationship with the common progenitor along the right axis. Then, from those two points, follow the blue lines to where they intersect. The point where the blue lines intersect defines your relationship with Maude.
